  • Masundari xaak: 150 gms
  • Sliced garlic: 1 tbsps
  • Egyptian lentil: 1 tbsp
  • Mustard oil: 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder: ½ level tsp
  • Salt: to taste
  • To decorate: Masundari leaf


    • Clean, wash and drain the xaak.
    • Wash and soak the lentil for half an hour.
    • Heat oil in a karahi. Fry the sliced garlic.
    • Sprinkle turmeric powder and add the lentil.
    • Upon low heat stir the lentil for awhile and add xaak.
    • Sprinkle salt and upon medium heat stir till done.
    • Serve Masundari Xaak Bhaji as a first course with plain boiled rice decorating with masundari leaves.

    Notes: The scientific name of the masundari xaak is Houttuynia cordata.
