Baanhgajor logot patha manxo (meat with bamboo shoot)


  • Mutton: 500 gms
  • Grated bamboo shoot: 100 gms
  • Sliced onion: 2 medium
  • Chopped onion: 1 medium
  • Garlic paste: 2 tsps
  • Ginger paste: 1 tsp
  • Chopped green chillies: 2-4
  • Sliced tomato: 2 medium
  • Mustard oil: 4 tbsps
  • Bay leaves: 2
  • Cumin seed: 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1/2
  • Salt: to taste


    • Make desired size pieces of the meat, wash and drain well.
    • Take the meat in a bowl and add sliced onion, ginger paste, garlic paste and a tbsp of oil.
    • Sprinkle a little salt, turmeric powder and rub well with hands.
    • Cover and marinate for an hour.
    • Take the meat in a pressure cooker and bring to full pressure.
    • Reduce heat and keep for 5 minute.
    • Switch off the gas. When slightly cool open.
    • In a karai heat the remaining oil.
    • Fry the bay leaves and cumin seeds till brown.
    • Add the chopped onion and fry till brown.
    • Add the tomatoes and and stir fry till soft.
    • Add the bamboo shoot and the hot mutton.
    • Sprinke salt to taste and the green chillies.
    • Stir cook for a minute and sprinkle salt to taste.
    • Cover and cook stirring occasionally.
    • When done remove cover.
    • Add chopped chillies and stir for awhile.
    • Garnish and serve.
