Ingredients
- Dressed chicken: 750 gms
- Onion paste: 2 tbsps
- Poppy seed paste: 2 tsps
- Kismis paste: 1 tbsp
- Mustard oil: 3 tbsps
- Crushed Cardamom: 6
- Bay leaf: 1
- Chilli powder: 1 level tsp
- turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
- Salt: to taste
- Pure ghee: 1 tsp
Directions
- Make large pieces of the chicken.
- Steam cook the pieces till half done.
- Strain and keep aside the chicken juice.
- In a karai heat oil.
- Fry the crushed cardamom and bay leaf till it changes colour.
- Fry the onion paste till brown. Sprinkle water a couple of times while frying.
- Add the chilli powder, turmeric powder ans stir for awhile.
- Add the poppy seed and kismis paste. Also add the chicken pieces.
- Upon medium heat stir for about a minute.
- Cover and stir occasionally.
- When dry add the chicken juice.
- May add a little water.
- When the chicken is almost done increase heat and stir with a flat wooden spoon.
- When done add pure ghee stir and cover.
- Switch off the gas.
- Enjoy as a starter in BHUGALI BIHU bhuj.
