  • Red lentil: 3 tbsp
  • Bhadailotar pat: 2 handfuls
  • Chopped onion: 1 tbsp t
  • Garlic paste: 1 tbsp
  • Pepper paste: 2 tsp
  • Mustard oil: to fry the fritters
  • Mustard oil ( for the curry): 2 tbsp
  • Bay leaves: 2
  • Warm water: 400 ml
  • Turmeric powder: ½ level tsp
  • Salt: to tase


  1. - Soak the lentil overnight. - Make a fine paste of the lentil and whip well. - Cover and keep aside for 15 minutes. - Clean the green leaves, wash and drain. - Make a fine paste of the leaves. - Add salt to the lentil paste and mix well. - Heat oil in a warm pan and half fry the fritters in batches. - Heat the mustard oil in a warm karahi. - Fry the bay leaves and add the onion. - Sauté upon moderate heat till it changes colour. - Add the garlic and pepper paste. - Stir for awhile and add the green paste. - Also add turmeric powder and stir for about 10 seconds. - Add the warm water and bring to boil. - Simmer for 5 minutes and add the fritters. - Add salt and cover. - Cook till the gravy is of desired consistency. - Garnish with pepper and enjoy with rice.
